A collection of Dave Langford's sf/fantasy/horror stories ('straight' ones, as opposed to pastiches), including the Basilisk series, culminating in the Hugo-winning title story, 'Different Kinds of Darkness'.
I haven't actually read this yet, but i have read the Basilisk stories, and they're excellent. Langford may not be the greatest SF writer in the world, but when he gets an interesting idea, he can usually turn out a good story about it. Definitely worth reading - possibly even worth buying.
