Haruki Murakami


A Japanese novelist, very popular (in translation) in the west, and starting to become popular at home too. He's not an SF writer in the same sense that Salman Rushdie is not; his books may be (partly) SF, and he may be influenced by True SF, but he's not really part of the SF tradition.
