Hollywood Blacklist

List of writers, directors, producers, editors and assorted others whose services were refused by major US film studios in 1950s America, on suspicion of their being Communists or fellow travellers. The major side-effect of this, unseen by the red-baiters of the time, would be a dramatic increase in the quality of American SF movies, as the unfortuanate purgees were forced to turn their talents to producing work in genres which would otherwise have been regarded as too lowly to be worthy of their talents. Orson Welles was a notable victim of the blacklist (although I doubt we can blame his appearance in the Transformers movie on the House Un-American Activities Committee) and if anyone else can actually find or remember the names of prominent SF-related figures involved in it, please add....
