JG Ballard


A very successful UK writer, author of many books and short stories. Early novels focus on disasters and the human reaction to same. Later novels explore human society (particularly, planned new developments) and Ballard's assessment of inadequancies of same. His most famous and critically acclaimed books explore the boundaries between biography and fiction, using his own life as material, one of which (Empire of the Sun) was made into a critically acclaimed film. Like William Burroughs, fatal to his wife.
