Mary Shelley

An English writer of the Romantic movement (b. 1797, d. 1851). Her most famous book is 'Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus', but she also wrote 'The Last Man'.

She was married to Percy Bysshe Shelley. Her mother was Mary Wollstonecraft, a famous Enlightenment radical and early feminist - one might argue that Feminist SF thus goes all the way back!
