There's an alien civilization on Mars; NASA know and they're covering it up!
The Viking landers unambiguously detected life in Martian soil - but NASA hushed it up; they said that there were other instruments on board that did not detect life, even though those instruments were not sensitive enough to have done so! Then there's the whole business with Cydonia and the Face of Mars; we all saw it in the orbital photos, and yet when another probe went back, they had mysteriously disappeared. NASA said that they'd never existed, that they'd been a camera aberration or a sandstorm or a trick of the light or something. Yeah right! Any five-year-old looking at the new photos could tell you they'd been photoshopped - it's not even a good job!
