The bottom layer is a linen chemise |

Over that goes a ruffled petticoat. The ruffles help to hold the skirt out. |

Over that goes a decorative forepart, just in the front. This is why there's a gap in the ruffles of the petticoat. |

The forepart is laced onto the petticoat to hold it in place. |
|
|
Unlace the gown nearly completely before putting it on. |

Then put it on. |

Then lace it up, the first lace goes across the top from behind, checking both sides of the lace are the same length.. |

Then lace as you would lace shoes, skipping two each time |
|
|
|
|
When it's part laced, the bust needs to be lifted into the right place (picture NOT shown) |

Tighten it up to a medium tightness. |
|
Then slide the stomacher in - either from the top down or from the bottom up, as shown. |
|
|
|
Then tighten up the lacing. |
|
|
Adjusting bits as required. |

Button up the sleeves |

Adjust the underskirts |
|
Put on the hood (pony tail inside) |
