Cool Emacs :p

2 - searching tricks

The standard emacs searches are

C-s [text] where repeated C-s will move to the next match, and C-r [text] which is identical but moves backwards.

Another AFAIK undocumented feature is:

C-s [part of text] C-w which will place the text under the cursor into the search buffer one word at a time.

This is useful for when you want to search for multiple incidences of a long word.

Normally, emacs command history can be accessed with the up and down arrow keys.

However, in search mode, up and down exit.

To access search history use the formal history keys

M-n and M-p
