• I came across the Hacker Emblem (hate ESR, love Life, hate emblems, love references people won't get ...), which reminded me how completely winning Conway's Life is. A couple of pattern libraries for you, and, Holy of Holies, the Unit Cell - Life in Life. If you understand, deep down in your limbic system, why this is cool, you have the Hacker Nature. One of the things that most amazes me about Life is not Life itself, but the fact that, over the last thirty years, the Life hacking community has developed a pretty solid body of knowledge about making structures in the Life universe; in effect, they have developed engineering for a universe with utterly different physical laws. And that period 15 glider gun is so cool. Anyway, there's dmoz if you want it.
