haskell_update_control is run by hand and does something roughly equivalent to sed "s/$ghc6/.../" < debian/control.in > debian/control
and in appropriate targets in debian/rules we run haskell_update_control --check or somesuch which checks that debian/control wouldn't be changed if it were run (and fails if it would).
Except this fails when the arch list grows. Bah.
