A Covered Market (_quelle surprise_) of all kinds of goods set in the squareish gap between CornmarketStreet and High Street. Something like a hybrid of a shopping centre and a street market, the Covered Market's businesses range from fully formed shops selling anything from Sandwiches to Books to Shoes to Illegal Weapons of Mass Destruction, to at the other extreme slightly permanent looking market stalls selling fresh vegetables. Entrances to the Covered Market can be observed at intervals along the High Street between the Mitre and Cornmarket (look for the blue curved arches), and also in CornmarketStreet via the Golden Cross centre. The Covered Market is one of the more interesting aspects of Oxford shopping, and has a slightly confusing layout which isn't helped by at least one shop having two outlets there, leading to severe geographical confusion. It is possible that there are still unexplored streets in its depths, some of which may lead to other dimensions. Ben's Cookies are particularly scrummy; be warned: they're often served a little too hot, leading to lip damage. CategoryOxfordGeography
