Red Dwarf

Comedy Science Fiction series broadcast by the BBC. Written by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor. Eight series so far, and rumours of a movie seemingly in perpetual post-production. Although the last two series were somewhat lacking, and the dilution of the premise, not least in the addition of a rather poorly scripted female character partially replacing Chris Barrie's Rimmer role, the series is none the less fondly remembered. --WJR

Characters include Arnold Judas Rimmer, Dave Lister, The Cat, Kry Ten, Holly The Computer, and latterly and arguably unfortunately, Kristine Kochanski.

"Let's just get out there and twat it!" (Lister)

"Give Quiche A Chance" (Rimmer's T-shirt, same episode)

"Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast" (Ace Rimmer)

"Stoke me a clipper, I'll be back for Christmas" (Rimmer, trying to be Ace Rimmer)

There must be many other quotable quotes: 'Dwarf' is virtually 'Withnail and I' in space... --TL

"Look, I'm a tenth generation AI hologrammic computer; I'm not your mum." (Holly) -- WJR

"Let's hope we don't meet any cops. They don't like you driving when you're rat-arsed." (Holly, whilst a shrunken Starbug has propelled itself into the, um, posterior of a rodent)

Hmm, I'd forgotten that one. Not an episode to show at Arlington Drive then... they'd have nightmares. -- WJR

"What do you mean, 'I killed him, cha-cha-cha'?!" (Lister)

"Lister, tune in to sanity FM." (Rimmer)

"It's embarrassing as much as anything else. Here you are totally humiliating me in front of this xenophobic homicidal maniac... No offence!" (Rimmer) -- WJR

"The question is this: Given that God is infinite, and that the universe is also infinite, would you like a toasted tea-cake?" (Toaster)

Wahey! They finally got off their multifariously suited butts and are making a movie!

Excellent! Good to see they signed on the actual cast members as well, and aren't doing a remake. I've yet to be convinced that it'll actually transfer well to the silver screen, but <lister>it's going to be fun finding out.</lister> -- WJR (here's hoping...)

The DVDs of series 1 and 2 are great :)
