Hello,
Why is GHCI not being built on PowerPC? The interactive toplevel is supported on this platform, according to http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/Platforms
I've monitored this list for a while, and it seems that there have been a few PPC issues stalling the 6.8.2 transition into testing. It's likely that no maintainers have access to a PPC linux box to test workarounds to these issues (aside from the Debian provided build servers.) I'm volunteering to perform any testing that can assist the packaging team in getting new versions of GHC and haskell libraries into testing.
Cheers, Matthew

We build GHC unregisterised on PPC, and GHCi used to not work like that. I think that that has since been fixed in the 6.8 branch, although the FFI won't work until 6.10; if I'm right then it could be reenabled, in principle.
However, I think that that would require building the TH package, which PPC was failing to do, possibly because of memory usage (although I'm a bit surprised if that's the problem, given a 512 MB Arm seemed to manage).
At the moment I don't expect this to get sorted out for lenny, but hopefully it will for lenny+1 and GHC 6.10 (6.12?). Sorry.
Thanks Ian
