Thanks for forwarding it, Stefan.

Personally I think that the HTMLised sources in the documentation plus
"apt-get source" is enough.
I also don't see why it makes sense to do this for the libraries that
happen to need to come in the ghc6 packages, but not all the other
libraries; e.g. I think the source for mtl is at least as likely to be
wanted as the source for process. But putting a copy of the whole source
package in one of the binary packages feels wrong to me.
Any other opinions?
Thanks
Ian
Hello,
Why is GHCI not being built on PowerPC? The interactive toplevel is
supported on this platform, according to
http://hackage.haskell.org/trac/ghc/wiki/Platforms
I've monitored this list for a while, and it seems that there have been
a few PPC issues stalling the 6.8.2 transition into testing. It's likely
that no maintainers have access to a PPC linux box to test workarounds
to these issues (aside from the Debian provided build servers.) I'm
volunteering to perform any testing that can assist the packaging team
in getting new versions of GHC and haskell libraries into testing.
Cheers,
Matthew
Are any of the readers of this list also doing any mentoring?
The only response I've ever gotten on a package I've submitted to Debian
Mentors called the package scary[1]. That for a package where I
followed the steps at [2] to create. I suspect that Debian Mentors have
quite a few DDs who are familiar with the more commonly used languages.
Is there a single one who knows, uses and packages Haskell modules and
programs?
There might be a gap to fill here.
I probably should acknowledge that there is a real possibility that I'm
the only person who files ITPs on Haskell software and uploads to Debian
Mentors... ;-)

Thanks Thiemo.
Here is a small overview of the ghc6 related packages.
A lot of haskell packages are in state "Building", although not for so
long yet, which is very good:
All on powerpc:
* haskell-anydbm
* ftphs
* haskelldb
* haxml
* haskell-hgl
* haskell-hsh
* haskell-hsql
All on s390:
* haskell-glut
All on mipsel:
* haskell-hgl
All on mips:
* pandoc
pandoc on mips is currently building, so hopefully will be in that state
soon as well.
These can be restarted, dependencies are available:
haskell-http # (powerpc)
haskell-hgl # (s390)
So this still needs to happen for the ghc6 transition:
* pandoc needs to build on powerpc (it’s already given back)
* build problem of hdbc-sqlite3 on hppa debugged
Things are looking good, thanks to all those involved,
Joachim

Dear mentors,
I am looking for a sponsor for my package "haskell-safe".
* Package name : haskell-safe
Version : 0.2-1
Upstream Author : Neil Mitchell <ndmitchell(a)gmail.com>
* URL :
http://hackage.haskell.org/cgi-bin/hackage-scripts/package/safe
* License : BSD 3
Section : libdevel
It builds these binary packages:
libghc6-safe-dev - Library for safe (pattern match free) functions
libghc6-safe-doc - Library for safe (pattern match free) functions
libghc6-safe-prof - Library for safe (pattern match free) functions
The package appears to be lintian clean.
The upload would fix these bugs: 482162
The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/haskell-safe
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable
main contrib non-free
- dget
http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/h/haskell-safe/haskell-safe_0.2-…
I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Hi Ian, hi others,
I was just checking on the buildd status of some of my package when I
noticed this very nicely green page:
http://buildd.debian.org/pkg.cgi?pkg=ghc6
But looking at
http://release.debian.org/migration/testing.pl?package=ghc6
it seems there is some coordination is required. Is there a tool where I
can see what other packages need to be updated so they can all enter
lenny at the same time (which is required, right?)? Are there other
issues holding back the migration?
Thanks,
Joachim

Hi,
please remove these three binary packages from unstable, in their hppa version:
libghc6-hdbc-sqlite3-dev
libhugs-hdbc-sqlite3
hpodder
The first two do not build on hppa due to a strange compiler error and
hold back the transition of ghc6, the latter one is a depending package.
This was recommended by a member of the release team (Philipp Kern) and
approved by the maintainer, John Goerzen.
Thanks,
Joachim

Hi Release Team,
I’d like to know how the ghc6 migration is going. Yesterday, I found out
that ghc6 has finally built on all architectures and is a valid
candidate, so I’m hoping we can release lenny with ghc6.8 and depending
packages I care about, such as xmonad and gtk2hs.
Am I right that this view:
http://release.debian.org/migration/testing.pl?package=ghc6;expand=1
gives me all possible problems holding back the migration of ghc6? That
would then be:
haskell-anydbm has to wait for two days.
haskell-anydbm needs to build on powerpc
(DepWait on missingh, just built today)
missingh needs to build on powerpc
(Built today, pending upload)
ftphs needs to build on powerpc
(DepWait on missingh, just built today)
haskell-glut needs to build on s390
(Marked "Building", build log looks good)
haskelldb needs to build on powerpc
(needs to be restarted, now that ghc6 is there)
haxml needs to build on powerpc
(Build failed:)
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=haxml;ver=1.13.3-2;arch=powerpc;stam…
hdbc-sqlite3 needs to build on hppa
(Build failed:)
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=hdbc-sqlite3;ver=1.1.4.0.0;arch=hppa…
haskell-hgl needs to build on mipsel, powerpc, s390
(Needs to be restarted on all of them, dependencies now there)
haskell-hsh needs to build on powerpc
(DepWait on missingh, just built today)
haskell-hsql needs to build on powerpc
(Build failed, same as haxml:)
http://buildd.debian.org/fetch.cgi?pkg=haskell-hsql;ver=1.7-2;arch=powerpc;…
haskell-http needs to build on powerpc
(Needs to be restarted, haskell-parsec available since two days)
pandoc needs to build on mips, mipsel, powerpc
(Needs to be restarted, dependencies now there)
geordi has to wait for two day
Is this somewhat complete or are there other problems with the
migrations that I can not see on that page? And is there anything I can
do to help the migration (besides _not_ uploading new versions :-))
Greetings,
Joachim
